Current Activities

As part of the next phase of the five-year Olde Town Arvada semi-permanent street closure plan, the City team is collecting and reviewing data related to business activity, parking demand, and transportation. Reviewing this data is part of the planning process for the future of Olde Town Arvada and the possibility of making the semi-permanent project, permanent. The data is analyzed and summarized into quarterly data-visualization reports.

Olde Town Reinvestment Plan

HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OLDE TOWN

On November 14th, the Dig Studio team presented survey results and alternative deisgns for the future of Olde Town.  The presentation provided to City Council can be viewed here .

The City collected a tremendous amount of input on the future of Olde Town through the hosted online Speakup Arvada visioning survey, and at various summer events. On September 21 an Open House was held to view a summary of the community engagement results. The input from the Open House and the online engagement will lead the design team and the City towards recommendations for the future of Olde Town.

The City hosted a two-day design charrette with our consultants for the Olde Town Strategic Reinvestment Plan. A charrette is a type of participatory planning process that assembles the City team and Strategic Partners to create a design and implementation plan. At this event we gathered input from the community engagement process (which included over 1,800 survey results), and design concepts from City Council, Olde Town BID, City team members, the Historical Society, Arvada Chamber, and Visitor Center. Watch the results, August 25 - Olde Town Arvada Presentation.

On June 1, the City of Arvada announced it has engaged Denver-based firm Dig Studio on a Strategic Reinvestment Plan that includes the development of a shared 20-year vision for Olde Town Arvada as well as a study into the feasibility of permanently maintaining street closures that have created a pedestrian experience. Olde Town Street Improvements

The Olde Town improvements are complete. The project included redoing crosswalks at key intersections, removing existing striping on roadways, and building new medians complete with traffic warriors and new planters. The Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District, in partnership with the Arvada Arts and Culture Commission, also installed three large street murals on the pedestrian street closure painted by muralists Chelsea Hart, Kailey Geary, and Talia Swartz Parsell.

Olde Town Street Closures

Early during the pandemic, the City of Arvada worked with the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District (BID) to temporarily close streets within Olde Town Arvada as part of its support to the local business community. The closures expanded patio dining and retail space to allow businesses the opportunity to safely serve more patrons. The response was largely favorable, and the City is now moving forward with a semi-permanent model. View the frequently asked questions and answers related to the Old Town Street Closure

Current Street Closures

As part of the City's continuing efforts to support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has partnered with the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District (BID) to close a few streets in the area to vehicle traffic. This allows shops and restaurants to use sidewalks for seating and shopping, leaving streets open for pedestrian traffic. You can view a larger version of the closure map by clicking on the image.

Construction activity is continuing on Ralston Road. To learn more about upcoming activity visit
